據著名北京維權律師、中國政法大學講師滕彪的朋友表示，滕彪自昨晚（3月6日）21時左右突然和家人朋友失去聯繫，手機一直打不通。滕彪的太太王玲表示，昨天滕彪昨天早上8點多出去工作之後，晚上8點15分左右收到他的電話說他會二十分鐘左右回來之後，大概在8點半左右，她聽到樓下有人尖喊，她之後往樓下看，只看到滕彪的車子，但沒有見到他。她問當時樓下的兩三個人，他們說看見有幾個人把一個人強行拉進一輛黑色車裡，然後開車衝了出去。王玲表示，她從不過問滕彪的工作，所以她不知道他是甚麼原因被帶走。

另外，另一名著名北京維權律師李和平律師今天（3月7日）早晨7：20開車送他七歲的兒子上學途中，在東四環附近遭到員警開車猛撞，車後備箱幾乎報廢。李律師表示，撞向他車輛後面的車上有三個人，他認出他們是自著名北京維權人士胡佳於去年12月27日被逮捕之後，一直跟蹤他的幾個人。他估計這是給他一個警告，但不知道是跟甚麼事有關。他說被撞後，腰部感到疼痛，兒子回學校之後不知他的情況。

中國維權律師關注組對在奧運舉行幾個月前在北京發生滕彪律師的失蹤與李和平律師車子被撞這些打壓維權律師的事件表示強烈關注。本會要求當局立即釋放滕彪，以及停止恐嚇和傷害李和平律師及他的家人。

Beijing Human Rights Lawyer Teng Biao Suddenly Taken Away, Lawyer Li Heping’s Car Crashed While Taking his Son to School

Teng Biao (滕彪), a prominent Beijing human rights lawyer and a lecturer of the China University of Political Science and Law, suddenly lost contact with his family and friends at around 9pm yesterday (March 6), according to his friends.

Calls to his mobile phone were not answered. Teng’s wife, Wang Ling, said Teng left home for work at around 8am yesterday. Teng called her at around 8:15pm on that day, saying that he was returning home in about 20 minutes. At around 8:30pm, Wang heard somebody cried out downstairs and she went down to see what happened.

Wang only saw Teng’s car, but could not find him. At that time, two or three people were downstairs and Wang asked them what happened. They told her that they saw several people forced a man into a black car and sped off. Wang said since she does not talk to Teng about his work, she wasn’t sure why they took him away.

Another famous Beijing human right lawyer Li Heping ‘s　（李和平） car crashed with a police car which was following him when he drove his seven-year-old son to school at 7:20am this morning (March 7) near Dongxihuan Road. The crash destroyed his car’s trunk. Li said there were three people inside the car that ran into his car. He recognized them as the public security officers who had been following him since the arrest of prominent human rights defender Hu Jia on December 27, 2007. He believed the crash was a warning to him but he was not sure about the reason. Li said he and his son were not injured but he felt pain at his waist. He said he was not sure about his son’s condition. This is the second attack on Li after he was taken away and beaten by unidentified thugs with electrical batons and distilled water bottles in a countryside basement on 29 September last year.

China Human Rights Lawyers Concern Group (CHRLCG) is deeply concerned about the sudden disappearance of Teng Biao and the car crash incident of Li Heping, especially when these incidents happened just a few months before the Beijing Olympic Games. China Human Rights Lawyers Concern Group urges the Chinese authorities to immediately release Teng Biao and stop threatening and hurting Li Heping and his family.
